The Planning and Infrastructure Development Department in the Municipality is responsible for:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT UNIT
The Project Management Unit is a section within the Planning and Infrastructure Development Department which is responsible for the implementation of all Infrastructure Capital Projects within the Municipality. It also must ensure that the infrastructure is rehabilitated, upgraded and maintained properly.

LOCAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Enhancing local economic development in the Municipality by establishing LED institutional and municipal operational structures and LED policies. It is also responsible for:

Assess and approve Business licenses,
Provide support to Informal traders.
Promote and support Tourism development.
SMME’S and Comparatives support

DEVELOPMENT PLANNING
SPATIAL PLANNING AND HUMAN SETTLEMENT SUB-UNIT- is responsible for

Developing policies and strategies guiding the long-term development of the Municipality. Providing spatial planning advise and input on land use development and land management. Identifying land for future development.

Processing of Land Use Development Applications. Facilitate access to housing opportunities and develop a short to long term Human Settlement Plan and Strategy. Property management Geographic Information Systems Title Deed Restoration Programme

BUILDING CONTROL SUB-UNIT -The Building Control Unit is responsible for
Approval and processes sing of building plan applications. Enforcement of statutory requirements regulating buildings, in terms of the National Building Regulations and Building Standards Act (Act 103 of 1977).

HUMAN SETTLEMENT SUB-UNIT
To provide housing opportunities to qualifying beneficiaries, enabling secure tenure and quality living environments.

The purpose of the Municipal Human Settlements is to facilitate the development of sustainable and integrated human settlements.

The provision of housing is informed by national policies including Outcome 8 of the Programme of Action, which calls for the creation of sustainable human settlements and improved quality of household life, and by Chapter 8 of the National Development Plan.
